Preparing for Your Charter
Below is a list of things that will help you be prepared to enjoy your day to the fullest!
For a Great Day on the Water
Being comfortable no matter what the weather makes all the difference! The RAGE R22 has a full top and enclosure to keep out the elements, but depending on the season you still need to dress appropriately. Windy days with a chop on the water can make for seasickness if you are not always looking at the horizon. Having food and drink keeps your energy and spirits up!
CHECK THE WEATHER NETWORK - KINGSTON link the day before your charter to see what you can expect, and then follow the suggestions below!
Fishing Licence and Keeping Your Catch
Check the Ontario Fishing Regulations for Fishing Licence Requirements. Salmon Fishing requires a New York State Non-Resident 1-Day Licence that can be purchased for $10 USD online. Click HERE. If you plan to keep fish, bring a cooler with ice to transport the fish home. Look at the catch and keep LIMITS info for Zone 20.
Cold Weather
Early spring and late fall into winter means dressing warm. Layers, warm winter jackets and snow pants, warm toque, boots and gloves are a must.
Hot Weather
Sunscreen and a hat with a brim are a must, as are sunglasses as even when we are under the full cover, reflection off the water can get you sunburned quickly and your eyes tired from squinting!
Windy Weather
I always recommend taking an anti-nausea drug like Gravol the morning of your charter. Anytime you are looking down in the boat (eating and drinking, cell phone, fish finder etc.) there is a chance you can get nauseous. Preventative measures work!
Food and Drinks
Having lots of your favourite to drink and eat makes for an enjoyable day! Pack your favourites in a cooler and bring it aboard! Rules and regulations of boating prohibit alcohol or marijuana on board.
